Serving Our Future

Who We Are

Grounded in principles of the Christian faith, but open to all, The Open Door Youth Outreach exists to improve the lives of neighborhood youth through programming that supports strong self-identity, resiliency and behavioral competence. We are intentional in purposeful community engagement through positive relationships in academic assistance, social interaction and athletics with caring adult volunteers in an environment of safety and fun.

Participate

The backbone of the Open Door is our volunteers. The ministry can not be successful without a strong volunteer base. Volunteers are an integral part of what we do and who we are. Intentional relationships with community youth creates the atmosphere for safety and fun. If you have any free time, spend it wisely with a young person. If you are interested and available please contact us using the information on the bottom of the page.

Contribute

The Open Door relies heavily on financial support from individuals, grants, funders, churches and other organizations to keep the ministry going. Without any ongoing financial support, we would not be able to minister effectively to the youth in Crafton Heights and in the West End section of Pittsburgh PA. If you are not able to volunteer in person, perhaps you can financially support the Open Door so that staff and volunteers can continue to reach the most vulnerable and the unreachable in our community.

Community Youth Outreach

The Open Door is a place of safety for community youth to come to have fun, relax and build relationships with adult volunteers and their peers during ongoing activities such as Friday night rec; family night; after school initiatives; group and individual games; holiday gatherings; summer day camp and city wide field trips. Our goal is to get young people to be more engaging with others to foster better communication and build meaningful relationships.
